I continue to be puzzled by the bias in the press, especially NBC. As I write this there are investigations in several states into voter registration fraud and voter fraud tied to ACORN. There is a public hearing invetigating voter fraud and voter registration fraud tied directly to ACORN going on right now in Cleveland Ohio. Where is the coverage? Where is the coverage into the attempt to fund ACORN through pork in the bailout bill? NBC is more interested in putting Saturday night live out front than reporting the news.
And by the way, who is closely tied to ACORN and the funding for ACORN in the bailout bill? Barack Obama. Come on NBC, get on the stick.
William- I believe there is no real coverage of Acorn by the media, or Ayers for that matter, because it would shed real light on the dark secrets in Obama's past. They want to spin the stories their way, so it reflects a more positive O
1) ACORN paid canvassers to solicit voter registrations.
2) Some paid canvassers made stuff up so they'd get paid - faked registrations. Whenever ACORN noted this kind of behavior, they terminated the canvasser. But they couldn't trash that canvasser's cards - See #4 below.
3) ACORN reported that there were problems with some of the registration forms (ACORN reported the problem - it was not a case of some enforcement agency "discovering" the problem.
4) The law in most states does not permit ACORN to filter registrations. If a form is turned in to ACORN, the law requires that ACORN submit that form to the registrar for elections. It doesn't matter if that form appears to be registering Mickey Mouse, Hugo Chavez, or your neighbor's cat; they have to turn it in.
5) Some people are paranoid and will register themselves more than once, just to make sure they're eligible to vote. It's up to the registrar to sort it out.
6) If ACORN is such a vile threat to our country, how does Senator McCain explain his giving the keynote address at an ACORN rally in Feb 2006?
When we grow up to be a real democracy, we'll have a uniform voter registration process, including proactive registration by the government that seeks to maximize participation in the electoral process, rather than depending on community organizations (ACORN) and volunteer groups to get people registered. And when we REALLY grow up, those registered voters will actually pay attention to the world and the candidates so they can make decision based on something more substantial than CNN, MSNBC or FoxNews.
Enough for now.
